Mujeres del Mar / Sea Women

La pescadería esta tradicionalmente asociada a los hombres, sin embargo, en la actualidad, las mujeres han ido tomando protagonismo debido a la importancia de su trabajo. Ellas se dedican a filetear, limpiar, vender el pescado, desenredar las cañas y redes. Dentro su diversidad etaria, la más joven sueña con entrar a la Armada Naval de Chile. Algunas acompañan a sus madres, primas o tías en sus labores diarias que comienzan a las 4:30 de la mañana, la mayoría se ha convertido en un trabajo familiar. De esta manera han logrado posicionarse, trabajando en la caleta, criando a sus hijos y se han convertido en mujeres realmente independientes.

The fish market is traditionally associated with men, however, at present, women have been taking center stage due to the importance of their work.
